Patricia Casey Griffin is an artist in Cambria, on the central coast of California. Working in series and project-based collections, she makes ceramic pieces rich in imagery, pattern and texture that invite a closer look.
Her most recent work explores landscape, and the feelings and memories of walking the trails near her home. In 2024, she further developed this work during a year-long residency project with the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve on the coast of California. The collection was the subject of a solo show at Cambria Center for the Arts in 2025.
In 2022, she was awarded two large public art projects with Kaiser Permanente in southern California. Poppy View, installed in early 2023, is an array of wall-mounted disks spanning 16 feet. The second project, Swirl, is her largest installation to date. It features large highly patterned sycamore leaves in an overlapping swirl along a 72-foot-long wall. It was installed in late 2023.
Griffin currently has two ongoing collections of work represented by The Vault Gallery in Cambria, Ca. The first is Dreamscapes, a series of ceramic paintings using bright graphics and imagery to chart maps of the imagination. The second is her Totems: Stacked Columns, eight-foot-tall sculptures, each with 20 or more pieces threaded through a steel pipe.
Griffin’s early career in ceramics was centered on functional work featuring bold graphics, pattern and imagery. She developed a style of sgraffito etching that she continues to use in new work and teaches in workshop settings.
A native Californian, Griffin grew up in the foothills of Monterey County and attended California State University, Fresno. She pursued her art interests at Bakersfield College and California State University, Bakersfield. Later, she took specialized workshops at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Tennessee. Idylwild Arts in California, and Sierra Nevada College.
